Yard , front and back

I barked this weekend ( the front yard) .  And I have a new addition to the yard. A little  bike planter addition.

Isnt it cute? :)
I decided to take pictures at night . well I forgot to earlier, so sorry for the darkness.

Painted my garden queen sign and added some hydrangeas. Here is my new birdhouse.

Now we are going to the backyard. Which has  been my project this year. Imagine all dirt. cause that is what it was. The landlord did nothing to the back . she liked natural. Whatever.   Oh wait there was one bed . with 2 plants that died.    I have grown grass in the front of the back yard. Its still growing in some spots.  Added 3 beds , flowers , plants  and just made 2 wood planters .  I am waiting on a little bridge I ordered that goes with the wood planters. I kept the very back natural and just planted more ferns  given to me. I wanted to keep that part natural so the landlord would not get mad.  I laid paper and bark on  sides of the  house, added a bed, plants and a arbor and a little fence thru the 2 years. . I wish I had before pictures.

So behind this little cutie pie is his area to go poop wherever  cause its left NATURAL . Soon he will have to walk over a little bridge to get to the  little NATURAL woods! Like how i sarcastically talk about the NATURAL woods. Up to me id grass it too:)
I think Harley likes to  be in my pictures.lol. Always seems to pop in them. Love the little guy. xoxox

THE ANSWER IS NO !

Ugh! I just have to vent ! See this cute house , Notice the front door
I like the red color of it .This is my neighbor across the streets house.  So when I am in the front yard gardening i always admire the red door. Well I wanted a red door to . A Cherry red door.
Here is our boring white door. Needs a touchup anyways.  Now here comes my venting. So Iasked the landlord very nicely if I could paint the front door.I  ADDED SOME PICTURES to explain to her what I was thinking. Threw in that we have been such good renters for almost 3 years could i please paint the door.
It would add curb appeal  and its is obvious that the yard has. ( thank u) .Her response
" No she would prefer to keep it white. But would send a professional out to paint it "WHITE" if it needs a touchup".  Well Poop on her .Of course all this was going thru the management co.person the landlord goes thru.So i proceeded to tell the Management lady , how i felt. And even added that maybe THE LANDLORD should watch "HORRIBLE TENANTS"( whatever its called)  on tv and maybe it would  open her mind a little. Maybe she would realize how lucky she is to have us! And i said the whole house is white and boring. !"   Yes, i did! My hubs was like , "you better be nice", ha! I did end the response with a smiley face.  :)
The manager responded back saying the LANDLORD is very particular about the house. (spare me) , But the manager thought it was a great idea!
Well of course  it is a great idea, duH!  So off i went moping around , cussing under my breath and thinking its time to buy our own house!   Then a light bulb went off .... WE HAVE NO MONEY  TO BUY A HOUSE! Darn it......   But  shute, I hate to be so creatively active and someone tells me I can't ...

Lets paint this garden with some bright yellow!

Had a couple cans of bright yellow spray paint and off I went. ........ The window box picture has nothing to do with the paint.Just showing I got a window box. My mother inlaw did not want it ,so my hubs brought it home for me. Score...I love window boxes....... Of course i tore apart all my hanging baskets( to save money)  so i could fill it. One basket that was hanging under the arbor , I remembered I had a chandy that I wasn't using. So i pulled it out and sprayed away.....
I may add some crystals to it....

How can anyone not want a window box???  Oh well I do...:   LINKING TO

Been busy this weekend!

Planted 6 ferns from  a friends backyard  to fill in our  backyard.. Made a flower bed  flower bed for the back.   Scored on these huge hanging Fushia baskets at $7.00 a piece:) , refreshed the front porch. And planted hydrangeas in the front.  Oh and painted the birdhouse roof to put on the arch. And the one on the porch!   Watering our darn backyard to get that grass to fill in.

I came across a picture of the house before we moved in .....

Now look at it . almost 3 years later. Alot of work but now it has some curb appeal! :)

Creating today!

Today I added a round table , checkered tablecloth and a topper I made. Then  I finished off the drape ,Had the hubs hang the rooster I have had forever . And hung the drape on it.
Gathered up some accessories I already had and Wahla! For the topper I used some material I took out  of one of the slipcovers. Then added leftover scrapes from existing drape material.

For the drape,I used a shower curtain(checks) that was on clearance , drapery material from the other drapes. Fringe from some lamps I  tore off, And used one of my iron Rooster thingies I have had for years. Attached the drapes with stripe ribbon.
I was inspired by this home tour I took on www.lifeingraceblog.com. Her neighbors house bestilled my heart! Warm French Country delight!. And I loved all the materials with the draperies , ect she had in her home.   I am really thinking about the upper half above the chair rail in my living room a color similiar to her living room.  I like the warmth .
I have definatley gone checkered mad! :)

Memorial Weekend Yard grooming and clean up!

Oh it has been raining on and off but it has not stopped me from cleaning and grooming the yard.  Things are starting to bloom. Shrubs needed Haircuts !lol. And my husband and I have been working on the side and back yard.  And yes I am still recovery from surgery. But I can't help myself from getting out!

LEFT Before and right AFTER. ( 0nly 7 weeks apart)
LEFT SIDE BEFORE    RIGHT SIDE NOW
only 7 weeks apart

                                                                               TODAY

I can barely stand my excitement. The front yard is really paying off from all the hard work I  have done. 2 years ago . The beds were just dirt. The grass was crappy. And from what my neighbors have said" It looks so good, like its well cared for!".Of course i get a little happy when I get compliments. But to be honest this has been a work of love, stress relief , and healing for me. Giving up our house 3 years ago was a real depression for me. Though it was the right decision in the long run, financially . And my husbands long time career going on the downside.Never knowing if there was work or not. In over our heads like most people. And not getting any help from the mortgage co. In the end we are where we need to be. But sometimes pride can get in the way .And when your renting and your landlord won't let you do what you want sometimes)I get a little down. I don't do well with limitations. Specially when I am such a creative person , who  loves to decorate, paint , update our home.  And watches Hgtv and reads home magazines and fantasizes on what I could do to this home.  But we really like this home . It is perfect for us and the location is great. And if it were for sale , we couldnt probably afford it anyways. But let me add, if she did ever sell, just the front yard alone and what we have done from dirt to .. has definatley increased the value. I really  think the landlord should let me paint the inside of the house. Dont U? :) At least a couple rooms. :)

Lets get back to the yard shall we..
I just wanted to share .See the yellow birdhouse?A birdie lives in it. I  am so excited . I  think there may be
babies in there too. Cause I hear little chirping. I put a little bell food on  the tree for  them . Makes me so happy and it is small enough hole entry where big bad enemies can't harm.I am going to get another house at the next garden show, hopefully by the same person who did this one. Maybe in hot pink or red.

I have been work on the backyard.Trying to save some plants that the landlord had someone plant in the worst places with  existing horrible soil.
The yard was all dirt, crappy full of junk filler dirt. .I am growing grass and have made beds.ect.I am very limited on what  i can do . The landlord doesnt like anything but  natural. My advice to her is to live in the wooods. ( maybe she does now). Who knows. But she isnt the one who has to weed  all the crap that comes  up from the soil or watch to see which  tree  could fall on the house on a very  windy day. Or everytime you had to walkin the back yard all the dirt you dragged in.( dogs too) It was  very  depressing looking. . And if you hire someone to plant ,make sure they know what there  doing so the plants  can live not die!.    DID I JUST RANT or what ! AAHHH feels good to get that off mychest.  And a fence would be nice. So unwanted guests dont pass out in your yard.( oldpost) .  I will show morebackyard pictures when the yard looks a little better. There is some patches of grass we have had to patch , but hey least we have grass...
