MY salon update! Well starting of it.

I have a little hair salon in Ballard. I have had my own salon for 12 years.  For 5 years when I first opened up i had a French Cottage decor salon.  . With black and white toile drapes and all cream furniture. Our stations were antique dressers. I loved it. I wish I had some pictures of it but I don't. But after 5 years the building it  was in sold and was torn down!  Well then I had to move. And i decided to partner up with someone and had to compromise with the decor! OH YES , it was hard .lol.  Now Ballard is a earthy casual neighborhood .Actually it is listed as one of the most popular neighborhoods in Seattle, Wa. . I live 45 minutes from there, but have done my hair career there for 20 years. I will be honest . I don't want to live there. Its to fast paced for me.  And the houses are pricey and to close together. But there are some neat old Craftman style homes. And if you want to be by the city , it is a great place to live.  Anyways , i am getting off the subject. So fast forward to the last 7 years.  We have been in a cozy space under a old apartment building by The Locks.  ANd it was time to update it a little. With a little convincing with partner Tom. And a small budget .  We got some new furniture( ok some of it came from my home:) Now i must remind you I did what I could with not much money . And Tom finally bought some things, since the old stuff came from my old salon.   Now  I was going for a cozy casual  living room feel for the waiting area.

We are getting a curtain thingy for the window someday! Tom is making one (slowly). So this is the waiting area. The rug is from my house and so is the coffee table.  See the chairs with  the circle pillows on them? I got both from the Goodwill for $14.00 . I painted them up .  The nailhead chairs with the cover over them ( to protect from color) are from Overstock ( i like them . but he paid too much).  Lamp on sale from Hobby Lobby. Picture from home.  I just painted the wall a golden Teracotta color. My phone pictures really do not do it justice.
The color brings out the tile surround on the shampoo bar.
This is an old building. Most of the walls are concrete. Drives me nuts!
This weekend I painted the waxing/massage room.
I bought the paint on the mistake shelf $10.00 and the rug at Ross$30.00 .  I did not show the whole room  til it is totally done.  This project is a challenge for me.  With a tight  budget and an old building with not much character. I am doing the best I can. My partner doesn't have the ambition like I do.And the painting about did me in. The next day i was in so much pain with my neck and back.  I swore I will never paint again.  ANd I won't mark my words!  Well maybe just furniture. ......
So when the salon is totally together I will post some pictures.

  1. Very pretty! You sitting area and the wash room all look so warm and cozy, yet it also has a more sophisticated salon look as well. You did an excellent job!
